Keystone Ski Trip

The end of February we headed out to Keystone to go skiing with the Comforts, Strouds and Rob. The ride was entertaining and snug in the van but Seth and Nathan were all smiles as they watched a movie. All smiles as Chad and I wait for the shuttle to take Nathan to his first day of Ski School. He was so excited and could hardly wait.

Watching Nathan learn how to ski over 3 days was so exciting! He absolutely loved it and by the end of the first day he was doing the pizza slice down the little learner hill. It was really pretty cute watching these young kids ride up the magic carpet and head down the hill learning to ski.

One of Nathan's first trips down the next level of the beginner slopes. He was a little nervous about it but was excited to do it and was doing so well! He was pumped for the next day and so were we to see him tackle it and even the next bigger slope.

Monday night we all headed out to dinner to celebrate Rob's birthday. It was a great time with good food and even better company!

On Tuesday Rob, Brent & Doreen headed home and Heather took a break from skiing while Seth, Chad & I hit the slopes for our last day. The three of us decided that that Tuesday was indeed the best ski day due to the clear blue skies, no wind and warm weather. The views were simply breathtaking! Over my left you can see Breckenridge

Nathan's instructor the 3rd day, Sandra, did such an awesome job with him! She taught him to use his arms as his steering wheel and away he went! He had so much fun going over the mounds! He rode them so fast and would come to an amazing stop right at the bottom and hop back on the carpet.

Nathan literally started bawling when Chad told him it was time to go and he needed to take his skiis off. He wanted to keep skiing and come back the next day to ride the ski lift. Sandra wanted to take him on the lift because he was ready but it has to be a 1 instructor to 1 student ratio to do that. If he would have been there the next day he would have been going up the lift. It just makes us even more excited to take him again next year!

Chad and I love to ski and are so excited that Nathan loves it too! We anticipate yearly ski trips as much as possible. Nathan thought for a long time that he wanted to snow board like Uncle Seth. On Tuesday night however he looked at Seth and said, "Skiing is way better than snow boarding, Uncle Seth." Ha!! Oh, one absolute funny from the trip was at dinner on Tuesday night. The 5 of us were sitting around the table doing a rhyme game with Nathan, you know, what rhymes with hat? He'd say "cat." My bad - I asked, "What rhymes with door?" His answer, "whore." Yup - he said it plain as day. He has no idea what that means of course - but we all stiffled some huge laughs and fought back tears of laughter and kept going with different words.

We look forward to the day when Aaron attends Ski School and it's the whole family swooshing down the mountain together! Meanwhile, he was having a blast back at home with Tom & Wendy. On church the next Sunday he saw Tom on stage playing his guitar and he yelled, "Tom!!" and proceeded to roar like a lion! I guess there was some pretty manly roaring going on while we were gone :) too funny! We are so blessed with amazing friends who love our kids so well!!
