Are you ready for some slide shows? Venice, Italy

This slideshow is the first of many from our adventures in Italy. Our first stop was in Venice and after we finally navigated our way to our hotel by water taxi we showered and enjoyed a delightful meal outside in the courtyard of our hotel under the stars. We took an evening stroll while enjoying some gelato and explored the sights. In Piazza San Marco there are restaurants with dualing orchestras that keep the tourists entertained.
The next day we headed out to the San Marco Museum, Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica - all which were incredibly beautiful and fascinating. We walked across the famous Rialto Bridge, did some shopping (for Shay of course) and paid a horrific amount of money for a personal pan size pizza (that we shared) and two drinks. We learned quickly to shop around for where you are going to eat! In Italy you are charged a 2 Euro cover charge per person (for the bread and oil) and then usually they charge a service charge (takes care of the tip). All in all, Venice is a beautiful city that is romantic but expensive and pretty dirty. I (Shay) kept wondering how many people die each year in the water ways! Lovely thought, I know.
